Information on Services

The mission of the Manitowoc County Human Services Department is to promote a healthy community by providing services that strengthen and empower individuals and families.

The Department is mandated to provide an extensive array of social services, financial benefits and rehabilitation to statutorily designated groups of Manitowoc County residents.

Children and Family Services
It is the mission of the Child and Family Services Unit to protect the safety of children and coordinate and provide services to families at risk of abuse or neglect in an effort to provide permanency for each child through family focused intervention.

It shall be the mission of the Family Resiliency Units to coordinate and implement services to children and families in an effort to foster permanency and reunification.  Utilizing a teamwork approach, the units serve by teaching, guiding and empowering individuals and families to become self-sufficient and independent.

Economic Support Services
It is the mission of the Economic Support Division to promote individual and family self-sufficiency and family unity by accessing all available individual, private and public resources, and to provide services based on changing Federal, State and County program regulations.
