The Maryland Department of Human Services (DHS) is the state's primary social service provider, serving over one million people annually. The Department, through its 24 local departments of social services, aggressively pursues opportunities to assist people in economic need, provide preventive services, and protect vulnerable children and adults in each of Maryland's 23 counties and Baltimore City.
Services Offered:
The Office of Adult Services focuses on the needs of the elderly, disabled and vulnerable adults. We work with local departments of social services and community based organizations to coordinate services for the vulnerable adult population throughout Maryland to promote their safety, stability and independence.
Child Protective Services (CPS) is a specific social service provided by DHS to assist children believed to be neglected or abused by parents or other adults having permanent or temporary care or custody, or parental responsibility. The program also offers service to household or family members who may require intervention to decrease the risk of any continuing physical, sexual or mental abuse or neglect.

My family was due for out TCA recert at the end of Oct. Due to COVID anyone due for recertification from the end of Oct to the end of Dec was no longer required to do so, benefits were suppose to be extended automatically for 6 months. I received one letter stating we had to recertify then another saying to disregard that letter. They still ended up cancelling our benefits. Went to this office and was met by the terribly rude security guard, he told me to call the 800 # the schedule appt. I have called several times, every time I have to sit on hold for hours just to be told "yes you are right, your benefits should have never been terminated but unfortunately I cannot due anything, I will have to have a manager call you" then I never hear from anyone. This is absolutely ridiculous, my family depends on that money and due to an error on their behalf my children have to suffer.
Good evening, I've tried several different times to reach someone, I have been unsuccessful. Would be glad to have a live worker to respond back to my case. This concerning my fuel assistance and food stamp case. I would like to have a list of some resources to assist me with my turn off notice. I had to call the help number to get to this step.
I still have not receive my son Medicaid card yet. I send my court orders document for guardianship proof by email.
I was at this office today, the security officer was very rude. He quickly shut the door at me saying " you have to call the # and make an appointment". I took the # and left. When I got home I got on the phone to try to schedule an appointment I was on the phone from 10AM till 4PM trying to talk to someone in this office and one one answered the phone. This is terrible.
